The Shadow

The Shadow is a short story I wrote this morning in literacy

As the leaves rustle in the wind and the floorboards creek every step you take down the long dark rickety hallway.

It all started when I moved houses and I went to my bedroom to unpack my stuff when I saw the shadows inside the house next door. I rushed to the living room to ask mum if anyone lived there and she said no. I was terrified of what the shadows were coming from and who was making the shadows. I was lying in bed sound wake listening to every noise and wondering about every single thing. I get up to get a glass of milk and tiptoe down the silent hall through the living room to the kitchen and open the fridge when I hear a big bang coming from next door I run to my bedroom grab the touch off my desk and climb out my window. It was all so silent outside and I had a feeling that someone was watching me I opened the back door to the house and said “Hello is anyone there?”

No one answered. I turn on my torch to look for a light switch and found one hiding behind an old shredded curtain, the lights flickers and I get a glimpse of a human shaped shadow at end of the hallway. The floorboards creek underneath me as I slowly walk down the hall to a little side room at end of the house. I suddenly hear a shape hud again sounding of the noise coming closer and closer to me I take a deep breath when I turn the corner. A little girl laid there clutching her teddy in fear I told her that it was ok and I would be there for her in the morning that I was coming back and she said that was fine.

In the morning I went over with a bowl of cereal and a clean dress for her and brought her back to my place I showed her to mum and she was shocked that the little girl had been living in there for 5 months alone.

It was later that month when Mum and I came home from town and on the way home mum handed me a letter. I jumped in fright and excitement seeing that mum has adopted her and we called her Ashley.

Writing

In literacy for the first 20 minutes we do visual writing I today wrote a peace about a solder and really wanted to show you guys so here is my work.
These are my two goals to go with my work
1.Write sentences that are grammatically correct
2.Use a variety of sentence structures, beginning and lengths to give effect.
War is a sad time lots of death and sadness and loss. In the field there is never silence there is always bombs and gun shots going off. It was my first step onto the field and all I see is people collapsing onto the ground with gun shots and blood oozing out of the dead bodys and blood camouflaging into the bright red beautiful poppies. As i help up my friend Max someone starts shooting straight at us and I cover over Max protecting him from the shooting and a suddenly feel a shooting pain going right through my back all the things I've ever done or ever seen flashed through my head as the memories flode through I collapse to the ground.

Area

To work out the area of a rectangle you have to times the length with the width.

If the rectangle is 5 metres wide and then 7 metres long then the it would look like this.

A= L x W

= 5 x 7

=35 sq metres

Area of a circle

To find the area of the circle you have to know the amount of the simbel π=3.14 Then you will times it twice with the radiance. The radiance is half of the width of the circle.

Example

A=π x r x r

=3.14 x 5 x 5

= 78.5 m 3

Visual Prompts

 Visual Prompts

This week in literacy we wrote visual prompts this was my favorite it is called .

Dad

Like always dad is working I don't even really think I can call him my dad he never talks to me never gives me a hug and is never there when I really need him. It is like i'm a ghost to him and the worst thing out of it all is that he wont even acknowledge me when its my birthday. Its the 9th of June and a day after my birthday and I was crying myself to sleep again only because of one little thing he wont fly my bright red kite with me.

Math

Today in math we had to walk the determinate of a circle to find out the circumference of a circle.By doing that first I had to know how many of my feet fit into a meter what was 4 and then I had 14 feet fit into the circle. I divided 14 by 4 and got 3.5 which meant the diameter after converting my feet lengths was 3.5 metres After that I had to lay it out in my math book like this. pi = 3.14 C=3.14 x 3.5 = 10.99m How I did that was I times pie with 3.5 and that gives me the circumference.

This is our class measuring the circle

Math

Today in math we learnt how to do Volume and it was basically a recap for me because i did lots of it last year. When we did Volume we had to write it out like this.

V=LxWxH

=4m x 6m x 8m

=192m3

So this was how we had to write it out and it may take a while but it will mean that you will actually get it right and if you need you can backtrack. Have you done Volume before?

Science Kekeno Seal

On Monday we had Science and had to pick a native animal to write about this is my work

Scientific diagram

 EXPLAINING SCIENTIFIC DIAGRAMS

INTRO

Every different scientific diagram has these different 7 elements like symbols, words and visual.

Diagrams are made to give information for the readers.

PURPOSE

The purpose for all diagrams is to give helpful factual information.

They are telling you things you need to learn about and things you don't know about.

Like in text one they have arrows pointing from the sun to the plant

what tells the kids straight away that the plant must need the sun to live.

AUDIENCE

The audience can be all different ages depending on how the diagram was set out and written.

Like in text 2 the diagram is black and white and doesn't explain the information as well as

text 1 where it shoes the movement through the images.

I think if there was something all bright and colorful like text 1 but it has a decent amount of words

then in would be for yr 4/6 but then if it is like text 3 it would be for Yr7 to adults.

LABELS

The labels are the headings and the symbols of the diagram they help

explain the words or what you are reading.

Like in text 3 they have the plants as keys to show you what each of them

mean and gives it lots of color because it needs it to drag more attention and keep people interested in it.

CONCLUSION

The main thing all diagrams need is color and words and a picture to show what you mean.

And you always need to think about the audience and the age you are writing for so the readers can actually understand.
